The City of Saline is utilizing Major Street Funds to perform roadway improvements including:

  • Removal of existing bituminous (asphalt) pavement and placement of new pavement

The City has contracted with D. N. Higgins of Ann Arbor, together with their subcontractors, to perform the concrete and bituminous work. Midwestern Consulting of Ann Arbor will perform the construction inspection and monitoring of the project activities. Both firms have at least 25 years of extensive experience working on various projects in the Saline Community
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to contact me at 734-429-8296 ext 2222 if:

  1. You would like to discuss the construction activities in more detail
  2. You have any specific questions or need to discuss any transportation or delivery coordination needs
  3. You have any particular operational concerns with any of the proposed construction activities

THE CONTRACTOR HAS PROVIDED THE BELOW TENTATIVE SCHEDULE TO PERFORM THE PROJECT WORK
Estimated Work Period (Weather permitting):

  • April 2 to April 5 Start-up, traffic signs, concrete removals
  • April 10 to April 12 Repairs of the manholes and catch basins
  • April 12 to April 14 Concrete curb repairs and sidewalk ramp placement

Pending Work Date determination, to be provided later:

  • Milling/removal of old asphalt, base removal, and limestone placement
  • Paving new level course of asphalt, MH adjustments, and top course of asphalt
  • Restoration of lawn areas; Install pavement markings; cleanup

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING PROJECT ACTIVITIES:

  • Do not park vehicles on the streets or within 100 feet of the intersection of the adjacent street during the above dates and during the construction activities
  • Do not place waste containers on the curb or in the street during construction activities
  • The roadway will remain open to residences and service vehicles, but the work does require short-term temporary lane closures for some construction activities.
  • Access to driveways will be maintained for access a majority of the time, however, those drives with curb repairs will be closed for 5 days to allow the concrete to harden
  • Traffic will be regulated by flaggers during milling/removal of old asphalt & new-pavement operations.
  • Residents should flag the locations of any irrigation lines and heads adjacent to curbs and sidewalks to help protect them from possible damage. Homeowners would be responsible for their repair since private irrigation systems are not a city-owned installation.

We apologize for any inconveniences during the construction period, including dust, mud, noise and vibration. Our goal is to respond to the needs of the affected property owners throughout the construction period.
